| تَبَّتْ يَدَا أَبِي لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ {١} | 1. Abu Lahab’s hands will perish and he will perish. |
| مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُ وَمَا كَسَبَ {٢} | 2. His wealth and that which he earns will not avail him. |
| سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ {٣} | 3. He will burn in fire giving rise to flames -- |
| وَامْرَأَتُهُ حَمَّالَةَ الْحَطَبِ {٤} | 4. And his wife -- the bearer of slander; |
| فِي جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِنْ مَسَدٍ {٥} | 5. Upon her neck a halter of twisted rope! |
