 |
| الر ۚ تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْآنٍ مُبِينٍ {١} |
1. Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. |
| رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمِينَ {٢} |
2. How strongly the unbelievers will wish that they had been Muslims. |
| ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْأَمَلُ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ {٣} |
3. (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). |
| وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَعْلُومٌ {٤} |
4. We never destroyed any town without pre-ordaining the fate of its people. |
| مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ أُمَّةٍ أَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ {٥} |
5. Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. |
| وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌ {٦} |
6. (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. |
| لَوْ مَا تَأْتِينَا بِالْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ {٧} |
7. Why do you not bring down the angels if what you say is true". |
| مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُوا إِذًا مُنْظَرِينَ {٨} |
8. We do not send down angels except for a genuine purpose, at which time none will be given any further respite. |
| إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ {٩} |
9. We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. |
| وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فِي شِيَعِ الْأَوَّلِينَ {١٠} |
10. We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. |
| وَمَا يَأْتِيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ {١١} |
11. No Messenger went to them whom they did not mock. |
| كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ {١٢} |
12. This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. |
| لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ ۖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْأَوَّلِينَ {١٣} |
13. They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) |
| وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَابًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَظَلُّوا فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ {١٤} |
14. Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, |
| لَقَالُوا إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ أَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَ {١٥} |
15. they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." |
| وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَاءِ بُرُوجًا وَزَيَّنَّاهَا لِلنَّاظِرِينَ {١٦} |
16. We have made constellations in the sky and decorated them for the onlookers. |
| وَحَفِظْنَاهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ {١٧} |
17. We have protected them from every condemned devil, |
| إِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُبِينٌ {١٨} |
18. except for those who stealthily try to listen to the heavens, but who are chased away by a bright flame. |
| وَالْأَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَأَنْبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَوْزُونٍ {١٩} |
19. We have spread out the earth, fixed mountains thereupon and caused everything to grow to its proper weight |
| وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَنْ لَسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَازِقِينَ {٢٠} |
20. to provide you and those for whose sustenance you are not responsible, with the necessities of life. |
| وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا عِنْدَنَا خَزَائِنُهُ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ {٢١} |
21. With Us is the source of everything and We do not send it down except in a known quantity. |
| وَأَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِحَ فَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِنِينَ {٢٢} |
22. We send impregnating winds and send down water from the sky for you to drink and you have no (control over its) storage. |
| وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِي وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُونَ {٢٣} |
23. It is We who give life and cause things to die and We are the sole Heirs. |
| وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِرِينَ {٢٤} |
24. We know the people who lived before you and those who will come into existence after you. |
| وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ {٢٥} |
25. Your Lord will resurrect them all; He is All-wise and All-knowing. |
| وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ {٢٦} |
26. We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay |
| وَالْجَانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ مِنْ نَارِ السَّمُومِ {٢٧} |
27. and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. |
| وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ {٢٨} |
28. When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. |
| فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِنْ رُوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ {٢٩} |
29. When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". |
| فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ {٣٠} |
30. All the angels prostrated before Adam |
| إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ أَبَىٰ أَنْ يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ {٣١} |
31. except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. |
| قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدِينَ {٣٢} |
32. God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" |
| قَالَ لَمْ أَكُنْ لِأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَإٍ مَسْنُونٍ {٣٣} |
33. Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". |
| قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ {٣٤} |
34. God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected |
| وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ {٣٥} |
35. and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." |
| قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {٣٦} |
36. Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". |
| قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ {٣٧} |
37. The Lord said, "Your request is granted |
| إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ {٣٨} |
38. for an appointed time." |
| قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {٣٩} |
39. Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them |
| إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ {٤٠} |
40. except Your sincere servants". |
| قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ {٤١} |
41. God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight |
| إِنَّ عِبَادِي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ إِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوِينَ {٤٢} |
42. and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. |
| وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {٤٣} |
43. Hell is the promised place for them all. |
| لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَابٍ لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَقْسُومٌ {٤٤} |
44. It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. |
| إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ {٤٥} |
45. The pious will live in gardens with streams |
| ادْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ آمِنِينَ {٤٦} |
46. and they will be told to enter there in peace and safety. |
| وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ إِخْوَانًا عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلِينَ {٤٧} |
47. We shall remove all hatred from their breasts and make them as brothers reclining on thrones facing one another. |
| لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُمْ مِنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَ {٤٨} |
48. No fatigue will touch them nor will they be expelled therefrom." |
| نَبِّئْ عِبَادِي أَنِّي أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ {٤٩} |
49. (Muhammad), tell My servants that I am All-forgiving and All-merciful |
| وَأَنَّ عَذَابِي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْأَلِيمُ {٥٠} |
50. and that My punishment is a painful one. |
| وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَنْ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ {٥١} |
51. Tell them about the guests of Abraham |
| إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا قَالَ إِنَّا مِنْكُمْ وَجِلُونَ {٥٢} |
52. who came to him saying, "Peace be with you." Abraham said, "We are afraid of you". |
| قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ إِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ {٥٣} |
53. They replied, "Do not be afraid. We have brought you the glad news of (the birth) of a learned son". |
| قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِي عَلَىٰ أَنْ مَسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ {٥٤} |
54. Abraham asked, "Are you giving me the glad news of a son in my old age? What reason can you give for such glad news?" |
| قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْقَانِطِينَ {٥٥} |
55. They said, "We have given you the glad news for a true reason so do not despair". |
| قَالَ وَمَنْ يَقْنَطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ {٥٦} |
56. He said, "No one despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those who are in error. |
| قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ {٥٧} |
57. Messengers, what is your task?" |
| قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُجْرِمِينَ {٥٨} |
58. They said, "We are sent to a sinful people. |
| إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ إِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {٥٩} |
59. Only the family of Lot will all be saved, |
| إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَا ۙ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ {٦٠} |
60. except his wife who is doomed to be left behind." |
| فَلَمَّا جَاءَ آلَ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلُونَ {٦١} |
61. When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, |
| قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ {٦٢} |
62. he said, "You seem to be strangers". |
| قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ {٦٣} |
63. They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. |
| وَأَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ {٦٤} |
64. We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. |
| فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِعْ أَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ {٦٥} |
65. Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." |
| وَقَضَيْنَا إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ الْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُصْبِحِينَ {٦٦} |
66. We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. |
| وَجَاءَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ {٦٧} |
67. The people of the town rejoicingly |
| قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ ضَيْفِي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِ {٦٨} |
68. rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. |
| وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ {٦٩} |
69. Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". |
| قَالُوا أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ {٧٠} |
70. They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" |
| قَالَ هَٰؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ {٧١} |
71. Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." |
| لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ {٧٢} |
72. By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. |
| فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ {٧٣} |
73. An explosion struck them at sunrise. |
| فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ {٧٤} |
74. We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. |
| إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ {٧٥} |
75. In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. |
| وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُقِيمٍ {٧٦} |
76. That town lies on a road which still exists. |
| إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ {٧٧} |
77. In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. |
| وَإِنْ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ {٧٨} |
78. Since the People of the Forest were unjust, |
| فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ {٧٩} |
79. We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. |
| وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ {٨٠} |
80. People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. |
| وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ آيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ {٨١} |
81. We showed them miracles but they ignored them. |
| وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا آمِنِينَ {٨٢} |
82. They would carve secure houses out of the mountains. |
| فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَ {٨٣} |
83. An explosion struck them in the morning. |
| فَمَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ {٨٤} |
84. Out of what they had gained, nothing proved to be of any benefit to them. |
| وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ ۗ وَإِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَآتِيَةٌ ۖ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيلَ {٨٥} |
85. We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for a genuine purpose. The Day of Judgment will certainly approach, so (Muhammad) forgive them graciously. |
| إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلِيمُ {٨٦} |
86. Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. |
| وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ {٨٧} |
87. (Muhammad), We have given you the seven most repeated (verses) and the great Quran. |
| لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِ أَزْوَاجًا مِنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ {٨٨} |
88. Do not yearn for other people´s property and wives and do not grieve (that they do not believe). Be kind to the believers. |
| وَقُلْ إِنِّي أَنَا النَّذِيرُ الْمُبِينُ {٨٩} |
89. Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." |
| كَمَا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمِينَ {٩٠} |
90. (We have given you the Quran) as We had given (the Bible) to those who divided themselves into groups |
| الَّذِينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْآنَ عِضِينَ {٩١} |
91. and also divided the Quran believing in some parts and rejecting others. |
| فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْأَلَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ {٩٢} |
92. By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible |
| عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ {٩٣} |
93. for what they have done |
| فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ {٩٤} |
94. Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. |
| إِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِئِينَ {٩٥} |
95. We shall help you against those who mock you |
| الَّذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ ۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ {٩٦} |
96. and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. |
| وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ {٩٧} |
97. We certainly know that you feel sad about what they say against you. |
| فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِدِينَ {٩٨} |
98. Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. |
| وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقِينُ {٩٩} |
99. Worship your Lord until you achieve the ultimate certainty. |
