 |
| إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ {١} |
1. When the Inevitable Event comes to pass - |
| لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ {٢} |
2. There is no denying that it will come - |
| خَافِضَةٌ رَافِعَةٌ {٣} |
3. Abasing some, exalting others. |
| إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا {٤} |
4. When the earth shall be shaken to its foundations, |
| وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا {٥} |
5. And the mountains shall be crumbled, |
| فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُنْبَثًّا {٦} |
6. So that they shall be as scattered dust. |
| وَكُنْتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً {٧} |
7. And you shall be sorted into three classes, |
| فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ {٨} |
8. First the companions of the right hand - what will be the companions of the right hand? |
| وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ {٩} |
9. And then the companions of the left hand - what will be the companions of the left hand? |
| وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ {١٠} |
10. And those foremost (in faith) will be the foremost (in the Hereafter), |
| أُولَٰئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ {١١} |
11. These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), |
| فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ {١٢} |
12. In the Gardens of Bliss. |
| ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ {١٣} |
13. A multitude of those of old, |
| وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ {١٤} |
14. And a few of those of later times. |
| عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَوْضُونَةٍ {١٥} |
15. On thrones decorated, |
| مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ {١٦} |
16. Reclining on them, facing one another. |
| يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ {١٧} |
17. Round about them shall serve youths of permanent freshness (immortal or never altering in age), |
| بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ {١٨} |
18. With goblets and ewers and a cup filled from a pure fountain; |
| لَا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُونَ {١٩} |
19. They shall not suffer with headache thereby, nor shall they get intoxicated (or exhausted), |
| وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ {٢٠} |
20. And fruits such as they choose, |
| وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ {٢١} |
21. And the flesh of fowl and any as they desire. |
| وَحُورٌ عِينٌ {٢٢} |
22. And pure, beautiful companions, |
| كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ {٢٣} |
23. The like of the well-preserved pearls: |
| جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ {٢٤} |
24. A reward for what they used to do. |
| لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا {٢٥} |
25. They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, |
| إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا {٢٦} |
26. Except the saying, "Peace! Peace!" |
| وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ {٢٧} |
27. And the companions of the right hand; what of the companions of the Right Hand! |
| فِي سِدْرٍ مَخْضُودٍ {٢٨} |
28. Amid thornless Lote-trees, |
| وَطَلْحٍ مَنْضُودٍ {٢٩} |
29. And tall trees with clusters of flowers (or fruits) one above another. |
| وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ {٣٠} |
30. And spreading shade, |
| وَمَاءٍ مَسْكُوبٍ {٣١} |
31. And water flowing constantly, |
| وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ {٣٢} |
32. And abundant fruit, |
| لَا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ {٣٣} |
33. Neither intercepted nor forbidden, |
| وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ {٣٤} |
34. And exalted thrones. |
| إِنَّا أَنْشَأْنَاهُنَّ إِنْشَاءً {٣٥} |
35. Surely We have created them into a new creation, |
| فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا {٣٦} |
36. And made them virgins pure, |
| عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا {٣٧} |
37. Loving friends, equals in age, |
| لِأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ {٣٨} |
38. For the sake of the companions of the right hand. |
| ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ {٣٩} |
39. A multitude of those of old, |
| وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ {٤٠} |
40. And a multitude of those of later times. |
| وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ {٤١} |
41. And those of the left hand; what of those of the Left Hand? |
| فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ {٤٢} |
42. In hot wind and boiling water, |
| وَظِلٍّ مِنْ يَحْمُومٍ {٤٣} |
43. And the shade of black smoke, |
| لَا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ {٤٤} |
44. Neither cool nor honourable. |
| إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ {٤٥} |
45. Surely they were before this made to live in ease and plenty. |
| وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيمِ {٤٦} |
46. And they persisted in the great violation (or great sin). |
| وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ {٤٧} |
47. And they used to say, "What! When we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? |
| أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ {٤٨} |
48. "Or our fathers of yore?" |
| قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ {٤٩} |
49. Say, "The first and the last, |
| لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَىٰ مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ {٥٠} |
50. "Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. |
| ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ {٥١} |
51. "Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie! |
| لَآكِلُونَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِنْ زَقُّومٍ {٥٢} |
52. "Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqum, |
| فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ {٥٣} |
53. "And fill your bellies therewith; |
| فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ {٥٤} |
54. "Then drink over it boiling water; |
| فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ {٥٥} |
55. "And drink as drinks the thirsty camel." |
| هَٰذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ {٥٦} |
56. This is their entertainment on the Day of Requital. |
| نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ {٥٧} |
57. We have created you, why do you not then assent? |
| أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تُمْنُونَ {٥٨} |
58. Have you considered the seed (or what you emit)? |
| أَأَنْتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ {٥٩} |
59. Is it you that create it or are We the creators? |
| نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ {٦٠} |
60. We have ordained death among you and We are not to be frustrated, |
| عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ {٦١} |
61. That We may transfigure you and make you grow into what you know not. |
| وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَىٰ فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ {٦٢} |
62. And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then reflect? |
| أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تَحْرُثُونَ {٦٣} |
63. Have you considered what you sow? |
| أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ {٦٤} |
64. Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the cause. |
| لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ {٦٥} |
65. If We willed, We could crumble it to powder, then would you lament, |
| إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ {٦٦} |
66. "Surely we are burdened with debt; |
| بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ {٦٧} |
67. "Nay! We are deprived." |
| أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ {٦٨} |
68. Have you considered the water which you drink? |
| أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ {٦٩} |
69. Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? |
| لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ {٧٠} |
70. If We willed, We could have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? |
| أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ {٧١} |
71. Have you considered the fire which you strike? |
| أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْشِئُونَ {٧٢} |
72. Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? |
| نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِلْمُقْوِينَ {٧٣} |
73. We have made it a reminder and a convenience for the dwellers of the deserts. |
| فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ {٧٤} |
74. Therefore, glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. |
| فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ {٧٥} |
75. But nay! I swear by the setting (or falling or fading) of stars; |
| وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ {٧٦} |
76. And most surely it is a very great oath if you only knew; |
| إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ {٧٧} |
77. Most surely it is an honoured Quran, |
| فِي كِتَابٍ مَكْنُونٍ {٧٨} |
78. In a book that is protected |
| لَا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ {٧٩} |
79. None shall touch it save the purified ones. |
| تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ {٨٠} |
80. A revelation by the Lord of the worlds. |
| أَفَبِهَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنْتُمْ مُدْهِنُونَ {٨١} |
81. Do you then hold this announcement in contempt? |
| وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ {٨٢} |
82. And make denial of it your means of subsistence. |
| فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ {٨٣} |
83. Why then do you not (intervene) when the soul comes up to the throat (of a dying person), |
| وَأَنْتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنْظُرُونَ {٨٤} |
84. And you the while look on - |
| وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْكُمْ وَلَٰكِنْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ {٨٥} |
85. And We are nearer to it (the soul) than you, but you see not - |
| فَلَوْلَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ {٨٦} |
86. Then why, if you are not under Our authority, |
| تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ {٨٧} |
87. Force back (the soul), if you are truthful (about your independence)? |
| فَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ {٨٨} |
88. Then if he is one of those Near to Allah, |
| فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ {٨٩} |
89. (There is for him) Satisfaction and Bounty and a Garden of Bliss. |
| وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ {٩٠} |
90. And if he is one of those on the Right Hand, |
| فَسَلَامٌ لَكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ {٩١} |
91. Then (the salutation) "Peace to you” from the companions of the Right Hand. |
| وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ {٩٢} |
92. And if he is one of the rejecters, the erring ones, |
| فَنُزُلٌ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ {٩٣} |
93. He shall have an entertainment of boiling water, |
| وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ {٩٤} |
94. And burning in Hell. |
| إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ {٩٥} |
95. Most surely this is a certain truth (or the Truth of Certainty). |
| فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ {٩٦} |
96. Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. |
