 |
| لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ {١} |
1. I swear by the Day of Resurrection. |
| وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ {٢} |
2. And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. |
| أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ {٣} |
3. Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? |
| بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ {٤} |
4. Yea! WE are Able to put together evenly his finger-tips. |
| بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنْسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ {٥} |
5. Aye! man desireth that he may sin before him. |
| يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ {٦} |
6. He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? |
| فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ {٧} |
7. When, then, the sight shall be confounded. |
| وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ {٨} |
8. And the moon shall be ecliped. |
| وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ {٩} |
9. And the sun and the moon shall be joined. |
| يَقُولُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ {١٠} |
10. On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. |
| كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ {١١} |
11. By no means! NO refuge! |
| إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ {١٢} |
12. Unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. |
| يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ {١٣} |
13. To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. |
| بَلِ الْإِنْسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ {١٤} |
14. Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. |
| وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ {١٥} |
15. Although he may put forth his pleas. |
| لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ {١٦} |
16. Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ {١٧} |
17. Verily upon us is the collecting thereof and the reciting thereof. |
| فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ {١٨} |
18. Wherefore when We reciteit, follow thou the reciting thereof. |
| ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ {١٩} |
19. And thereafter verily upon us is is the expounding thereof. |
| كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ {٢٠} |
20. By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. |
| وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ {٢١} |
21. And leave the Hereafter. |
| وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ {٢٢} |
22. Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, |
| إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ {٢٣} |
23. Looking toward their Lord. |
| وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ {٢٤} |
24. And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. |
| تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ {٢٥} |
25. Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. |
| كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ {٢٦} |
26. By no means! When it cometh up to he collar-bone. |
| وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ {٢٧} |
27. And it is cried. who can charm? |
| وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ {٢٨} |
28. And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. |
| وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ {٢٩} |
29. And one shank is entangled with the other shank. |
| إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ {٣٠} |
30. Unto thy Lord that Day is the drive. |
| فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ {٣١} |
31. He neither believed nor prayed, |
| وَلَٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {٣٢} |
32. But he belied and turned away. |
| ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ {٣٣} |
33. Then he departed Unto his house hold conceitedly. |
| أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ {٣٤} |
34. Woe Unto thee; woe! |
| ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ {٣٥} |
35. Again, woe Unto thee, woe! |
| أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدًى {٣٦} |
36. Deemest man that he is to be left uncontrolled? |
| أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِنْ مَنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ {٣٧} |
37. Was he not a sperm of emission emitted? |
| ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ {٣٨} |
38. Then he became a clot; then He created him and formed him. |
| فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ {٣٩} |
39. And made of him the two sexes, male and female. |
| أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَىٰ {٤٠} |
40. Is not That One then Able to quicken the dead? |
