 |
| لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ {١} |
1. I swear by the Day of Resurrection |
| وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ {٢} |
2. and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). |
| أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ {٣} |
3. Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? |
| بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ {٤} |
4. We certainly have the power to restore them even the very tips of their finger. |
| بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنْسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ {٥} |
5. In fact, people want to have eternal life in this world. |
| يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ {٦} |
6. He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" |
| فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ {٧} |
7. When the eye is bewildered, |
| وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ {٨} |
8. the moon eclipsed. |
| وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ {٩} |
9. and the sun and the moon are brought together, |
| يَقُولُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ {١٠} |
10. people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" |
| كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ {١١} |
11. Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. |
| إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ {١٢} |
12. The only place of refuge will be with God. |
| يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ {١٣} |
13. On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. |
| بَلِ الْإِنْسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ {١٤} |
14. In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul |
| وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ {١٥} |
15. even though they make excuses. |
| لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ {١٦} |
16. (Muhammad), do not move your tongue too quickly to recite the Quran. |
| إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْآنَهُ {١٧} |
17. We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. |
| فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ {١٨} |
18. When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). |
| ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ {١٩} |
19. We shall be responsible for its explanation. |
| كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ {٢٠} |
20. Human beings certainly do not want to pay much attention to the Quran. In fact, they love the worldly life |
| وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ {٢١} |
21. and neglect the life to come. |
| وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ {٢٢} |
22. On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, |
| إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ {٢٣} |
23. and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. |
| وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ {٢٤} |
24. Others will be despondent, |
| تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ {٢٥} |
25. certain of facing a great calamity. |
| كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ {٢٦} |
26. Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person´s soul reaches up to his throat |
| وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ {٢٧} |
27. and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, |
| وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ {٢٨} |
28. (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. |
| وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ {٢٩} |
29. When legs are twisted around each other, |
| إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ {٣٠} |
30. that will be the time to be driven to one´s Lord. |
| فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ {٣١} |
31. The human being does not want to believe the Truth, nor does he want to pray. |
| وَلَٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ {٣٢} |
32. He rejects the faith, turns away |
| ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ {٣٣} |
33. and haughtily goes to his people. |
| أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ {٣٤} |
34. Woe to you! |
| ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ {٣٥} |
35. Woe to you! |
| أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدًى {٣٦} |
36. For you, the human being of such behavior, will certainly deserve it. |
| أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِنْ مَنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ {٣٧} |
37. Does the human being think that he will be left uncontrolled? |
| ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ {٣٨} |
38. Was he not once just a drop of discharged sperm. |
| فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنْثَىٰ {٣٩} |
39. Was he not turned into a clot of blood? God then formed him and gave him proper shape. From the human being, God made males and females in pairs. |
| أَلَيْسَ ذَٰلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَىٰ أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَىٰ {٤٠} |
40. Does He then not have the power to bring the dead back to life? |
