| عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ {١} |
1. OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? |
| عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ {٢} |
2. (Is it) of the great announcement |
| الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ {٣} |
3. About which they have been differing? |
| كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ {٤} |
4. Indeed they will come to know soon; |
| ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعْلَمُونَ {٥} |
5. They will indeed come to know soon. |
| أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْأَرْضَ مِهَادًا {٦} |
6. Did We not make the earth a spreading, |
| وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا {٧} |
7. The mountains tent-pins? |
| وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا {٨} |
8. We created you in pairs, |
| وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا {٩} |
9. And made sleep for you to rest, |
| وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاسًا {١٠} |
10. The night a covering, |
| وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا {١١} |
11. And the day for seeking livelihood. |
| وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا {١٢} |
12. We raised over you several secure (skies), |
| وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا {١٣} |
13. And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. |
| وَأَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجًا {١٤} |
14. And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents |
| لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِ حَبًّا وَنَبَاتًا {١٥} |
15. That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, |
| وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافًا {١٦} |
16. And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. |
| إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتًا {١٧} |
17. Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. |
| يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجًا {١٨} |
18. The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; |
| وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَابًا {١٩} |
19. The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, |
| وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا {٢٠} |
20. The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. |
| إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا {٢١} |
21. Certainly Hell lies in wait, |
| لِلطَّاغِينَ مَآبًا {٢٢} |
22. The rebels´ abode, |
| لَابِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَابًا {٢٣} |
23. Where they will remain for aeons, |
| لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْدًا وَلَا شَرَابًا {٢٤} |
24. Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink |
| إِلَّا حَمِيمًا وَغَسَّاقًا {٢٥} |
25. Except boiling water and benumbing cold: |
| جَزَاءً وِفَاقًا {٢٦} |
26. , A fitting reward. |
| إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَرْجُونَ حِسَابًا {٢٧} |
27. They were those who did not expect a reckoning, |
| وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّابًا {٢٨} |
28. And rejected Our signs as lies. |
| وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ كِتَابًا {٢٩} |
29. We have kept account of everything in a book. |
| فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلَّا عَذَابًا {٣٠} |
30. So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, |
| إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا {٣١} |
31. As for those who preserve themselves from evil and follow the straight path, there is attainment for them: |
| حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَابًا {٣٢} |
32. Orchards and vineyards, |
| وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَابًا {٣٣} |
33. And graceful maidens of the same age, |
| وَكَأْسًا دِهَاقًا {٣٤} |
34. And flasks full and flowing. |
| لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا كِذَّابًا {٣٥} |
35. They will hear no blasphemies there or disavowals: |
| جَزَاءً مِنْ رَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَابًا {٣٦} |
36. A recompense from your Lord, a sufficient gift, |
| رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَٰنِ ۖ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا {٣٧} |
37. The Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all that lies between them, most benevolent, to whom none may dare address a word. |
| يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلَائِكَةُ صَفًّا ۖ لَا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا {٣٨} |
38. The day the Spirit takes its stand, with the angels ranged in rows. None will speak except who is permitted by Ar-Rahman and says what is right. |
| ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۖ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِ مَآبًا {٣٩} |
39. That day is certain. So whosoever likes may prepare a way to his Lord. |
| إِنَّا أَنْذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِيبًا يَوْمَ يَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُ يَا لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ تُرَابًا {٤٠} |
40. We have indeed warned you of a calamity near at hand, a day when man will see what he had sent (of his deeds) ahead, and the unbeliever will say: "Woe alas. Ah would that I were dust!" |
