 |
| إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ {١} |
1. (On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, |
| وَإِذَا النُّجُومُ انْكَدَرَتْ {٢} |
2. the stars are made to fade away, |
| وَإِذَا الْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ {٣} |
3. the mountains are scattered about as dust, |
| وَإِذَا الْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ {٤} |
4. the young barren camels are abandoned, |
| وَإِذَا الْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ {٥} |
5. the wild beasts are herded together, |
| وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ {٦} |
6. the oceans are brought to a boil, |
| وَإِذَا النُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ {٧} |
7. souls are reunited with their bodies, |
| وَإِذَا الْمَوْءُودَةُ سُئِلَتْ {٨} |
8. questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, |
| بِأَيِّ ذَنْبٍ قُتِلَتْ {٩} |
9. such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" |
| وَإِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ {١٠} |
10. the records of deeds are made public, |
| وَإِذَا السَّمَاءُ كُشِطَتْ {١١} |
11. the heavens are unveiled, |
| وَإِذَا الْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ {١٢} |
12. hell is made to blaze, |
| وَإِذَا الْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ {١٣} |
13. and Paradise is brought near, |
| عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا أَحْضَرَتْ {١٤} |
14. then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. |
| فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالْخُنَّسِ {١٥} |
15. I do not need to swear by the orbiting |
| الْجَوَارِ الْكُنَّسِ {١٦} |
16. stars which are visible during the night |
| وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ {١٧} |
17. and sit during the day, or by the darkening night |
| وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ {١٨} |
18. and brightening morning, |
| إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ {١٩} |
19. that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger |
| ذِي قُوَّةٍ عِنْدَ ذِي الْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍ {٢٠} |
20. who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, |
| مُطَاعٍ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍ {٢١} |
21. obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. |
| وَمَا صَاحِبُكُمْ بِمَجْنُونٍ {٢٢} |
22. Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness |
| وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ بِالْأُفُقِ الْمُبِينِ {٢٣} |
23. He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form |
| وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى الْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍ {٢٤} |
24. He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. |
| وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَانٍ رَجِيمٍ {٢٥} |
25. The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. |
| فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ {٢٦} |
26. Where then will you go? |
| إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِلْعَالَمِينَ {٢٧} |
27. This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). |
| لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَسْتَقِيمَ {٢٨} |
28. So let those who want, choose the right guidance |
| وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ {٢٩} |
29. However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. |
