 |
| إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْفَطَرَتْ {١} |
1. When the heavens are rent asunder, |
| وَإِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انْتَثَرَتْ {٢} |
2. the stars are dispersed, |
| وَإِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْ {٣} |
3. the oceans are merged together, |
| وَإِذَا الْقُبُورُ بُعْثِرَتْ {٤} |
4. and the graves are turned inside out, |
| عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ وَأَخَّرَتْ {٥} |
5. every soul will see the result of its deeds - those recorded before his death and those which will produce either virtue or evil after his death. |
| يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنْسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيمِ {٦} |
6. Human being, what evil has deceived you about your Gracious Lord, |
| الَّذِي خَلَقَكَ فَسَوَّاكَ فَعَدَلَكَ {٧} |
7. Who created you proportionately and fashioned you |
| فِي أَيِّ صُورَةٍ مَا شَاءَ رَكَّبَكَ {٨} |
8. in whatever composition He wanted. |
| كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُونَ بِالدِّينِ {٩} |
9. Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment, |
| وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحَافِظِينَ {١٠} |
10. but you should know that there are angelic guards |
| كِرَامًا كَاتِبِينَ {١١} |
11. watching over you |
| يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ {١٢} |
12. and these honorable scribes know whatever you do. |
| إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيمٍ {١٣} |
13. The virtuous ones will live in bliss |
| وَإِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِي جَحِيمٍ {١٤} |
14. and the evil-doers will be in hell |
| يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّينِ {١٥} |
15. which they will enter on the Day of Judgment |
| وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَائِبِينَ {١٦} |
16. to burn therein. |
| وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ {١٧} |
17. They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is! |
| ثُمَّ مَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ {١٨} |
18. Again would that you only knew how terrible it really is! |
| يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِنَفْسٍ شَيْئًا ۖ وَالْأَمْرُ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلَّهِ {١٩} |
19. On that day, no soul will be of any benefit to any other soul. On that day, all affairs will be in the hands of God. |
