 |
| لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ {١} |
1. And thou wilt be made free from obligation in this City -- |
| وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ {٢} |
2. And the begetter and he whom he begot! |
| وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ {٣} |
3. We have certainly created man to face difficulties. |
| لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ {٤} |
4. Does he think that no one has power over him? |
| أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَنْ يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ {٥} |
5. He will say: I have wasted much wealth. |
| يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُبَدًا {٦} |
6. Does he think that no one sees him? |
| أَيَحْسَبُ أَنْ لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ {٧} |
7. Have We not given him two eyes, |
| أَلَمْ نَجْعَلْ لَهُ عَيْنَيْنِ {٨} |
8. And a tongue and two lips, |
| وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ {٩} |
9. And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? |
| وَهَدَيْنَاهُ النَّجْدَيْنِ {١٠} |
10. But he attempts not the uphill road; |
| فَلَا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ {١١} |
11. And what will make thee comprehend what the uphill road is? |
| وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ {١٢} |
12. (It is) to free a slave, |
| فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ {١٣} |
13. Or to feed in a day of hunger |
| أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ {١٤} |
14. An orphan nearly related, |
| يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ {١٥} |
15. Or the poor man lying in the dust. |
| أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ {١٦} |
16. Then he is of those who believe and exhort one another to patience, and exhort one another to mercy. |
| ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ {١٧} |
17. These are the people of the right hand. |
| أُولَٰئِكَ أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ {١٨} |
18. And those who disbelieve in Our messages, they are the people of the left hand. |
| وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ {١٩} |
19. On them is Fire closed over. |
| عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُؤْصَدَةٌ {٢٠} |
20. By the sun and his brightness! |
